Fitting Safari

To support audiologists in their daily work the Genie Paediatric Fitting Mode has been developed.

There is safety and certainty in the familiar, yet potential for improvement and increased benefit in the new. Appreciating this, the Genie paediatric fitting flow has a familiar feel to it, yet all the changes necessary to improve the flow.

Familiarity
The Paediatric Fitting Mode is automatically selected when fitting Safari instruments. Although the structure resembles an adult fitting flow (Selection - Fitting - End Fitting), it now accommodates the unique aspects inherent in a paediatric fitting. The light blue background colour and the “Child Friendly Hearing Care” logo let’s you know, that the Paediatric Fitting Mode is active.

Flexibility
Among audiologists there is no clear-cut consensus concerning at what age certain features should be enabled. Appropriate settings differ, not only as a function of age, but also according to the beliefs and experiences of the audiologist. Genie therefore offers maximum flexibility to customize individual settings based on the preferences of the audiologist.

Examples are the Paediatric Default Settings and DAI/FM configuration.

Efficiency
To reduce the number of “clicks” required to complete a fitting, we defined a number of paediatric default settings. Age-based settings for noise reduction and directionality are applied automatically depending on the audiologist’s personal settings. Also, tasks such as RECD and data entry in formats other than dB HL have become easier to accomplish. For example, the “RECD and REUR and Audiogram” link appears higher up in the task panel, as this application is more frequently needed when working with children.

Certainty
Many of the changes implemented in an effort to provide greater flexibility and efficiency also result in greater “Certainty” for audiologists. Several easily accessible overviews now provide information on the automatic features that have been activated in the instrument, and which programs have been applied.
